The Personal Revival Plan is a simple tool, designed to bring spiritual revival through prayer, daily scripture reading, and honest writing. The daily scripture reading plan will take you through the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice in a year.
This simple tool gives us the framework to transact heart business with the Lord. By writing honestly about what we are going through, we pour our hearts out to Him. Then, as we spend time in His Word, He gives us His perspective so we can enjoy an ever-deepening relationship with Him.
Absolutely! Most people who begin this process have little to no experience studying scripture. God promises that we will seek Him and find Him when we seek Him with our all heart. (Jer. 29:13- emphasis added) The only requirement in this process is honesty with God.
The daily scripture reading will take between 20-30 minutes. We encourage you not to focus on getting through every verse, but rather on hearing from God. If you get two sentences into the daily reading and something jumps out at you, stop, and dig in right there! This is the Holy Spirit speaking to you through the Word of God!
The Bible is how God makes Himself known to you and I. Understanding this helps! As is true when getting to know anyone, it takes time, and getting to know God is a lifelong pursuit! We must also remember; we have a fallen human nature to overcome. As we study Scripture on our own, we are learning new things about God; new things about ourselves and overcoming our own misconceptions about both. As we study and respond to His Word, He will quicken the Holy Spirit who lives in us, and as we carry on in this process day after day, the Bible will become easier to understand.
Give yourself grace and move on! Do not try to go back and catch up. You’ll read what you missed next year! Focus on consistency and building a habit of being in His Word regularly. Resist the temptation to measure yourself by how “good you’re doing”. It is not the volume of what we read that will bring personal revival; it is how we respond to what we have read that matters!
Yes! You do not have to write pages and pages every day. A sentence or two of response from you, and a simple prayer is all it takes to invite Jesus deeper into your heart. What people love about the writing aspect is that we can go back and see where God has answered prayer, changed behavior, Spiritually healed, and where we can see the monumental breakthroughs we’ve had with the Lord. You may even grow to like writing!
